No indication of failed signature when not signed in

When not logged into the extension, and attempting to vote on polkadot.js, after you click sign & submit, the blue thing in the top corner just spins and the extension gives no indication it was called without response, nor does it prompt a login. (I opened the extension myself in this screenshot, it was not open and there was no number badge indicating a message on the navbar icon)
